“Outside Straight Lines: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists”
“Outside Straight Lines: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Artists” — community art exhibit held at The 204 in Harwich during Pride month aimed toward giving voice to LGBTQ+ arts across Cape Cod.
Outside Straight Lines arose out of concern that much of LGBTQ+ art across the Cape has been unintentionally segregated to Provincetown, often forcing those showing their work outside of this Queer Mecca into self-censorship throughout other venues of the Cape. In a time when book banning of LGBTQ+ literature is occurring across the country, this exhibit is intentionally housed in a former middle school library, acting as a moment of reclamation and agency. This exhibit not only hosts 18 Queer artists in a single space but also celebrates the vast diversity of our Queer Cape Cod community–from the expressionist figure to the realistic Cape Cod landscape.
Drop by the 204 between June 1 and 30, 2024 during visiting times to view this powerful visual collection of LGBTQ+ voices.
