Joerg Dressler Named Featured Artist for the 29th Annual Provincetown International Film Festival Poster

Artist’s distinctive blend of natural imagery and contemporary abstraction will bring a new visual dimension to the festival’s 2027 identity.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — October 30, 2026 — The Provincetown International Film Festival (PIFF) is pleased to announce that artist Joerg Dressler has been selected as the featured artist for the official poster of the 2027 festival. Dressler’s work will provide the visual identity for the upcoming edition of the festival, bringing a distinctive artistic perspective to one of Provincetown’s most anticipated annual cultural events.

Born in Germany in 1964, Dressler is a painter whose work explores impermanence, memory, and the fragile beauty of the natural world. His paintings juxtapose meticulously rendered fragments of nature, recalling the traditions of 19th-century landscape and still life painting, with the language of contemporary geometric abstraction. The interplay between these contrasting approaches creates a compelling visual tension between the organic and the constructed, the enduring and the ephemeral.

The selection of Dressler continues PIFF’s tradition of working with local Ptown visual artists. The festival’s annual poster is more than a promotional image; it is an opportunity to showcase an artist whose work resonates with the imagination, emotional depth, and spirit of discovery that define independent cinema.

“We are thrilled to feature Joerg’s work on the official poster for the 2027 Provincetown International Film Festival,” said Anne Hubbell, executive director of the Provincetown Film Society. “His exploration of memory, impermanence, and the nature connects beautifully with the experience of cinema.”

The 2027 poster will serve as a signature image for the festival, appearing across promotional materials and helping establish the visual identity of the event. Further details about the artwork and its inspiration, along with announcements about the 2027 festival program, will be shared in the months ahead.

The Provincetown International Film Festival brings together filmmakers, industry professionals, artists, and film lovers for a celebration of independent cinema in one of New England’s most culturally rich and historically significant communities. With its longstanding commitment to original storytelling and creative expression, PIFF continues to champion the artists and ideas that shape contemporary culture.

Additional information about the 2027 Provincetown International Film Festival will be announced at provincetownfilm.org.
